Warning: another long post – however I think you will be smarter after reading it.
Today we are going to learn a few things and why it’s important to “Gird your Loins”
Part 2 of Spiritual Warfare (see earlier post) – Here are the 3 Verses we will cover Ephesians 6:12-14
“12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. 13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having [a]tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart),”
The power of God is what equips you to wear and put on the armor in the first place. If you walk away from God and His word then you are essentially walking away from His Power.
Lesson 1- The battle is not against your spouse, family member friend, but against spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly supernatural realms. Aka demons are messing with you and your loved ones.
Lesson 2 – When it says “put on the complete armor of God” the greek word for Put on is “Panoplia” – Pan – means Everything – Hoplos = Armor – Put on all of the armor, not just some of it. God has given you everything you need to fight spiritual battles but you must put on the WHOLE armor not just some of it.
Lesson 3 – Stand firm means – to stand, continue safe and sound, stand unharmed, to stand ready or prepared to be of a steadfast mind of quality, one who does not hesitate, does not waiver. You have to have a made up mind you are going to stand firm in the truth. When you make that decisiosn you become like a united front able to push back the enemy out of your camp or mind.
Band Of Truth or Belt of Truth – sometimes it was called a loin belt ; to fasten garments with a girdle:, to fasten one’s clothing about the loins with a girdle.
This is what I found fascinating in my research.
The reason you have to protect your “loins” with the truth, is because the “loins” are where the seed is to be able to reproduce. If you don’t have the seed of truth from God’s word, and if you don’t protect that seed you will not be able to reproduce. You won’t be able to teach your children and grandchildren and therefore make disciples and spread the truth of the gospel. The enemy did not want soldiers to reproduce in the natural and I think the enemy is still not wanting people to reproduce in the natural and in the spirit realm. So he is constantly inhibiting people’s ability to reproduce. So therefore you have to “gird up your loins” Protect the goods down there people, so you can reproduce. Protect the seed of truth planted in your heart from a young age so it can reproduce.
Also, the belt of truth held the armor together so the soldier would not be exposed. If you don’t have your truth buckled symbolically around your waist your pants are going to fall down and you are going to be exposed to the enemy. Who wants that to happen????
Okay, this is enough for now. I know it’s a lot to take in so if you made it this far great job!
Want to know more? Let me know if you do in a comment below and then stay tuned and I’ll share the next part in another post. There is so much more that was fascinating and I’m happy to share if you are interested.
This is it for now….
Tell me any takeaways you have after learning this stuff if you feel led. Of course feel free to share with anyone else who may need this info.
