Day 3 -Quiet Mornings on the Porch

”Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For I trust in You. Teach me the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.”

PSALM 143:8 AMP

It’s not every morning I wake up early enough to enjoy the quietness on the front porch, but when I do I often think why don’t I do this more often?

Last year I heard a quote by Dallas Willard in which he said “Ruthlessly eliminate hurry.”

There is something about getting up early in the morning to read, pray and drink hot coffee or tea while it’s quiet. It makes me start the day in a slower calmer pace, eliminate the hurry in my head, which in turn gets my mind in a right place for the rest of the day.

I have never had a porch quite like the one I have now. It wraps around the entire house and my friend Tracy helped me rearrange a few of the pieces of furniture I had and made it a little more cozy than it was just a few days ago.

It’s not perfect or like a picture in the Southern Living magazine, but it’s the place where I meet with Jesus to get my spiritual food for the day.

Part of the Porch is still messy and the leaves need to be blown away, but in this little corner it’s cozy and it’s where I ask God to order my steps and teach me something I need to know for the day.

I watched the War Room movie finally last night and I was reminded by the character Ms. Clara to carve out a place in my home to pray,  read and write the scriptures. To make a “war room” so to speak in my own home.

So this is it for now, the Porch, and quiet mornings on this porch are what I am thankful for today.

Do you have a porch or favorite place in your home to have a little quiet time?

If so please do share. I’d love to see the place in your home that brings you a little joy each time you visit.

Blessings,

Paige
